*Expressions of Interest Deadline extended to Sunday 17th March at 7pm
The World Team Disc Golf Championships are taking place November 6-9th 2024 in Mundaring, Perth, Australia. Expressions of interest to be a part of the New Zealand national team ‘The Flying Kiwis’ are due 7pm Friday 15th March 2024. We are looking for players, a team manager, selectors and volunteers to help organise and fundraise to get the team to the tournament smoothly.
Players
The team is made up of 6 players. 3x MPO, 2x FPO and 1x MP40/FP40. Whilst NZDG will cover the team fee and aim to assist in any other financial/fundraising where it can - players must be prepared to cover all other costs (flights, accommodation, transport, food and miscellaneous). A team greater than 6 may be chosen to travel in anticipation of any injuries, sickness etc.
Team Manager
NZDG is looking at the possibility of a team manager going with the team to allow players to focus on performing at the highest level. The team manager will be focused on coordinating the team while on the trip and documenting their performance for social media. The team manager must be prepared to cover all fees as above. There is a possibility the team manager may function as a travelling reserve/player for the team as well.
Selectors
NZDG is looking to elect a committee to decide on the playing team heading to Perth. To be considered, you must be familiar with the NZDG tournament scene and players in the last few years. Whilst NZDG has set guidelines for the selection process (performance on the NZDG tour in 22/23 and 23/24 will be weighted heavily) we understand that there are circumstances that require a subjective consideration. E.g. Only started competing recently or spent large periods of time injured or overseas.
*The selectors guidelines include an unclickable link to the WFDF eligibility criteria which can be found here.
Volunteer Committee
The Flying Kiwis have a fantastic history at the WTDGC - with a 2nd place in 2016 and 3rd place in 2017. Therefore, it will be a highlight of the NZDG 2024 year and we’d like to create a team to make it fantastic for our community. If you’d like to volunteer to be a part of the committee to help with organisation, promotion and team fundraising that would be great. We see potential for some fantastic fundraiser discs and tournaments and other great ideas to help ease the financial burden of getting our top talent to Perth.
If you would like to apply for any (or all) of these above positions, please fill out the attached form by 7pm Friday 15th March 2024 (Expressions of interest are not binding). More information on the event can be found here: https://www.pdga.com/files/wtdgc_2024_bulletin_1.pdf as well as a couple more details will be present on the form below:
