Important information for TDs scheduling PDGA Events post June 1st 2026

As you will by now be well aware, NZDG have now changed to a direct subscription membership system. Previously we used an automatic membership via tournament directors of tour events being levied $5-$7 per person, per tournament. This was a very manual, post event system and only collected from a few events whilst contributing benefit to a wider community.

As part of this new approach to membership, we have also reviewed our approach to event sanctioning, scheduling, and community contributions.

From June 1st 2026, all PDGA Sanctioned Events scheduled in NZ will require prior NZDG approval and the payment of a fixed community contribution levy tied to the tier of the proposed event. This does not include PDGA Leagues or Non PDGA Sanctioned Events.

This system will be administered by our Sporty system with payments due at time of Sanctioning. We recommend reaching out to our General Manager or Tour Director for confirmation of availability of dates before completing the form. On confirmation of NZDG Sanctioning you will be able to fill in the PDGA event Sanctioning form, and pay their applicable fees as you do currently.

If another event is already sanctioned within 3 hours road travel for the same dates as your proposed event, our expectation is that you seek an agreement with the other TD to sanction on the same dates, BEFORE completing the NZDG sanctioning form. Sanctioning may otherwise be declined. We recommend Sanctioning your event and Advertising dates on DiscGolfScene.com at the earliest opportunity, to allow others to plan their events also.

Completing the PDGA event Sanctioning form without prior approval from NZDG will result in the loss of your PDGA Sanctioning, and may result in disciplinary action. You will need to be a current NZDG Member to apply to sanction an event.

In some cases NZDG may at its discretion may “sponsor” selected events by way of reimbursing sanctioning fees, particularly for bonafide fundraisers and/or specialty events such as WGE. Included in your sanctioning fee is cover for your event under NZDG’s insurance policy.

When sanctioning an event, you will be given the option to request to be a part of the NZDG Tour. There is no additional fee for this, nor is it compulsory. Additionally your event will receive NZDG Tour Points, some marketing and social media support via NZDG Social channels, but must follow any additional requirements contained within the current Tour policy at time of sanctioning. Tour Events will be selected at the discretion of the NZDG Board, with a view to creating a balanced, competitive, North-South tour.

The fee structure from 1st June will be;

  • PDGA C - Tier (including XC - Tier) - NZ$100

  • PDGA B - Tier (including XB - Tier) - NZ$125

  • PDGA A - Tier (including XA - Tier) - NZ$150

Split tier events will be charged at the highest tier applied for.

Events currently (as at 1st May 2026) sanctioned and advertised for post 1 June 2026 will keep their sanctioned status without needing to complete the form. TDs affected will be contacted directly with payment advice for their sanctioning. NZDG Tour events currently advertised for post 1 June will also be charged at the above rates now, rather than the $5 per head as discussed at Tour Sanctioning.
